Title— Interface matters in dielectrics
Abstract— In the dielectric and electrical insulation research field, phenomena at interfaces between different substances are important issues. To promote innovative research activities, especially in industries, collaborations among researchers with different types of expertise are essential. An application engineer of measurement systems can work as an interface of different research fields and contribute to interdisciplinary activities, as well as the measurement technologies themselves.
Dr. Kaori Fukunaga short Bio: Kaori Fukunaga (M’97) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Tokyo Denki University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1993. From 1989 to 1993, she worked on high-voltage cable systems at Fujikura, Ltd. She joined the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT), Tokyo, Japan, in 1995, where she is currently a Research Manager with the EMC Laboratory. She has been involved in material analyses using electromagnetic and electroacoustic techniques and sensing using terahertz waves. Her current research fields include deterioration analysis of dielectric and electrical insulating materials, and industrial applications of millimeter wave and terahertz technologies. She is an art lover from her childhood, and received her BA in Art and Design from Musashino Art University in 2013. Dr. Fukunaga is a member of the Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging (JIEP). She is a member of Science Council of Japan, IEE Japan European Materials Research Society, and Fresco Association.
